About this ml to cups tool

Converting millilitres to cups is useful when a recipe lists volumes in ml but you are working with cup measures, or when you want to understand how a measured liquid volume relates to standard cup fractions.

The conversion depends on which cup system your recipe uses. US recipes use 236.6ml cups. UK, Australian, and metric recipes use 250ml cups. Our converter supports both — toggle between them to get the right result for your recipe's origin.

A useful reference: 1 litre is 4 UK/metric cups exactly, or 4.23 US cups. This makes litres very easy to work with in metric kitchens. For smaller amounts, 250ml is one UK cup, 125ml is half a cup, and 62.5ml is a quarter cup.

If you do not have cup measures, a kitchen scale is often a better alternative for liquids. Weigh in grams: for water, 1g = 1ml. For milk, the ratio is similar. For oils and other liquids, the weight per ml varies slightly by density.
